For 3 years, we’ve championed indie filmmakers—not just as an event, but as a catalyst for change. Now, we’re breaking boundaries.

In October and November of 2024, we proudly hosted our third Mini Movie Marathon, a vibrant and engaging two-day event that introduced an innovative and fresh approach for our ever-growing club. The first day of the event exceeded all expectations and was marked by a sold-out screening that showcased our commitment to the art of film. Our carefully curated lineup featured a diverse selection of animations and captivating stop-motion films, highlighting the remarkable creativity that thrives within this artistic field.

We were particularly thrilled to welcome filmmakers from outside Kenya, who brought with them unique cultural insights that enriched our discussions and audience experience. One of the standout moments was during the Q&A sessions, where enthusiastic attendees were given the opportunity to interact directly with the filmmakers, revealing the substantial efforts and passion that were poured into their work. For instance, one filmmaker shared the inspiration behind a quirky project developed from a deep love for inanimate objects, while another artist transformed a simple gummy bear into an elaborate and imaginative story.

We also screened a poignant film that thoughtfully addressed social protest, created just prior to the emergence of 'GEN Z' movements in Kenya. Additionally, another filmmaker captivated us with tales drawn from the intriguing world of vampire lore, and yet another detailed how they utilized LinkedIn as a valuable resource for discovering a suitable music score. Overall, the experience of uncovering the creative processes and varied inspirations behind each project was truly enlightening, showcasing the profound and transformative power of storytelling within the realm of film. To be continued…….(2025)
