ABOUT US
Mini Movie Marathon is a curated, in-person screening series dedicated to short films and the communities around them.
Founded in Nairobi (2023), Mini Movie Marathon (MMM) creates intentional cinema experiences for short films from Africa and the diaspora. Each edition is carefully curated and experienced collectively — allowing stories to be seen on the big screen, shared in conversation, and remembered beyond the screening.
Why Mini Movie Marathon
Short films often live online, in classrooms, or at festivals — but rarely in sustained, intentional cinema spaces. MMM exists to return short films to the big screen and to create room for audiences and filmmakers to engage with them beyond the credits.
We believe short films deserve presence, attention, and community.
How Each Edition Comes Together
-
Curated Film Selection
MMM invites submissions from emerging and established filmmakers. Each edition is curated around a clear intention — whether thematic, stylistic, or conversational — prioritising quality, cohesion, and care over volume.

-
In-Person Cinema Screening
All MMM editions are physical, in-person events. Films are screened in cinema-style spaces to honour the craft and allow audiences to experience short films collectively.

-
Community Exchange
After screenings, MMM creates space for conversation — through discussions, filmmaker Q&As, or informal exchanges. These moments deepen understanding and strengthen connection
